Without further ado, let's dive right into it.

Unknown Speaker 0:57

Hello, my beautiful, glorious souls. I'm your host Djemilah Birnie. And today, I wanted to talk to you guys about habits and more specifically, the ripple effect of your habits. Now, whenever we are implementing new habits into our lives, they are going to have a ripple effect into other areas of our lives. Now, there are some things there are some improvements or different things that we might notice right away. But the true ripple effects of your habits are not going to be seen for months, maybe even a year later on. And, and that's why it can be so difficult to solidify the habits that you know, are going to serve you the habits that you know, are going to help bring you to the next level the habits that you know are going to allow you to step into that greater version of yourself the habits that you know, you need to start implementing into your life you need to have into your life if you truly want to reach the next level, if you truly want to achieve whatever this goal or whatever this desire is that is on your heart. Now, the problem with the ripple effect, when we are implementing these habits is exactly that is you do not see the effect immediately. Now there might be some minor changes or some minor shifts here and there. But the massive grandiose change that you're seeking, you're not going to see immediately, you're not going to see right away,

Unknown Speaker 2:54

it is going to compound over time. And so it's going to take something inside of you to get yourself to keep going, it's going to take you having faith, there's that faith word again, it is going to take you having faith that if you continue to do this task, if you continue to train yourself to form this habit, that eventually the results that you are seeking will come to fruition and this could take six months 12 months years right.

Unknown Speaker 3:39

So that is why so many people fail is they simply do not stay consistent long enough just to see the true ripple effects of their habits. Now here is the amazing thing that happens when you do stay consistent with those habits because he he began to compound it began to compound over time, depending on what habit it you know, depending on what this habit is this positive habit is that you're implementing into your life. It it can bleed into so many other areas of your life. For example, if you are implementing the habit of meditating into your life, this is such a foundational habit. It's what what it's what one would call a keystone habit. And this is because this habit will literally affect every other aspect of your life. When you begin to consistently meditate.

Unknown Speaker 4:41

Consistently consistently, day to day meditate. You're going to notice changes everywhere you're going to notice changes in your relationship. You're going to notice changes in your work. You're going to notice changes in your health you're going to notice changes in your thoughts and your thinking your response.

Unknown Speaker 5:00

There's going to be so many changes now are these changes going to be immediate No, are these changes, you know going to be

Unknown Speaker 5:10

a grandiose or crazier or whatever. Not necessarily. And that's the thing is because it is a, it is a ripple over time. But if you stick with that one habit if you stick with that one habit consistently, for the next 365 days. And if you compare where you were today, with where you are in 365 days, even if you do not notice the day to day changes, you will notice at the end of those 365 days, there has been a massive change. And if you begin to look back into that shift, and that change, you will notice that there's a ripple ripple effect of other positive things in your life. Now,

Unknown Speaker 5:58

here's where things get interesting, because there's not just an echo or a ripple effect. For the good habits, there's not just that that echo happening with the with the good things, right. It's also happening with the bad it's also happening with the negative, it's also happening with the self deprecating

Unknown Speaker 6:23

habits. And, and that could be, you know, saying bingeing Netflix every night for hours on end, that could be not exercising that could be

Unknown Speaker 6:36

becoming, it's so enthralled with your phone, not creating not so many any of these habits that you know, don't serve you, when those habits start to creep back into your life, those habits.

Unknown Speaker 6:52

Now, those habits are going to have an effect as well.

Unknown Speaker 6:56

Now, again, you might not immediately see the effects of you not choosing your health, and not exercising, and not eating healthily, you might not immediately see that you might in might not see it within a week might not see it within a month. But I bet your butt that if you consistently don't exercise it consistently, like poop, when you have been exercising it eating well for a year, you're going to notice that that bad habit compounded and now you have a serious problem. And I'm sure that over that time, there your other habits that have been picked up, that are not going to serve you as well. So not only do good habits have a ripple effect. But bad habits also have a ripple effect. And the other thing with our habits is, is the echo. So when you are implementing good positive habits in your life, they're gonna push you forward. Now, you may begin to notice some of the changes right away. But the real impact, you're not going to see

Unknown Speaker 8:09

for six 912 months maybe

Unknown Speaker 8:14

before you really start to see the impact of that shift. But bad habits, bad habits, the echo back from your bad habits is much more. When you start falling out of alignment with the habits that are in your highest good.

Unknown Speaker 8:35

The changes happen rapidly, the changes happen quickly, because it begins the negative downward spiral. And once you get caught into that tornado into that loop, the velocity starts increasing increasing and you start just going down down in.

Unknown Speaker 8:55

So whenever you're thinking about your day to day, I want you to think about what habits Do you have right now that are giving you a positive echo that are creating a positive ripple effect in your life? What are these habits that are actually moving you forward but not only moving you forward, but also positively influencing other areas of your life? And then what are the areas of your life where your habits are not serving you? Well in your life, or your habits giving you a negative ripple effect, a negative echo effect. Where are those places, identify them, become aware of them, don't judge them. Just hold space for them and become aware of them because in this place of awareness, you are going to find that it is much easier to

Unknown Speaker:

implement change, change only occurs once we become conscious. If you are not conscious of the issue

Unknown Speaker:

Why would you change it? Right?

Unknown Speaker:

So, after listening to this episode, that is my my suggestion my homework for you is to take a moment and truly reflect on your day to day. What are your habits? When your alarm goes off in the morning? What do you do?

Unknown Speaker:

Are you a snoozer? Are you a jump out of bed and get getting go? Or

Unknown Speaker:

what do you do you might not think about how these small actions compound and and influence your life

Unknown Speaker:

and your dreams. Because this one small habit, this one small habit of snoozing your alarm actually has a much greater ripple effect than you might be aware of. Because during those first five minutes after you wake up, aka your alarm, waking you up, is literally waking you up from your unconscious state into your conscious state. While you are in this moment, there is an open line of communication between

Unknown Speaker:

you and your subconscious mind. Because your conscious mind is still groggy and unclear. It's still waking up from that night. So when you are having your alarm. Come on, you press the snooze, you are directly telling your subconscious mind that you do not follow through with what you say you will. Now how do I draw that conclusion from a simple alarm clock? Here's the thing, you set your alarm clock, you decided the time that you wanted to set your alarm clock for you setting that alarm clock was an intention. It was a it was an invisible contract with yourself whether you do it or not. And by you pressing the snooze button, you are pushing off that contract, you are breaking that promise to yourself and you are procrastinating and now you are setting the tone. From the very very instant that you wake up that you do not follow through with the promises that you make for yourself. And you procrastinate. These are not habits that are going to move you forward. These are not habits that are going to get you closer to these to your goals. These are habits that have a negative compounding effect. So

Unknown Speaker:

take some time and truly assess what your day looks like from the moment that you wake up to the moment you go to bed. What are you doing? What are these habits? What habits are serving you what habits have a positive ripple effect? And what habits are detrimental? What habits are taking away from your own personal happiness, success and fulfillment in life?

Unknown Speaker:

identity identify them so you can begin to change them.
